Referral Services
The Access Center (AC) provides referral services to state agencies throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Fill out a request for interpreting or captioning services.
When requesting services, state agencies are strongly encouraged to submit their request for a need on accommodations at least two weeks prior to the assignment date, or as soon as an event is scheduled. Less than five days notice decreases your chance of securing an interpreter/captioner for your event.
The following information needs to be provided when a request is made:
- Your name, address and phone number
- The date services are needed
- The time (beginning and end time)
- The location of the assignment
- Type of assignment (medical, legal, meeting, etc.)
- Consumer's name needing services
- Consumer's preferred mode of communication (if known)
- Preferred interpreter (if any)
- Contact person's name and phone number
- Billing information (name, address and phone number)
Access Center procedures for requests
Requests are handled on a first come, first serve basis except in emergencies. Efforts are made to fill each assignment as soon as it is received. However, if the Access Center is unable to fill the request by 12:00 pm two working days prior to the assignment, the Access Center staff will contact the requesting agency and suggest:
- Continuing to seek an interpreter/captioner for the assignment with the understanding that it may not be filled.
- Rescheduling of the assignment.
- Ceasing the search.
Confirmation:
The Access Center will provide the independent vendor with all of the information from your request. The Access Center will send you and the scheduled interpreter/captioner confirmation via email, mail or fax.
Billing:
The Access Center does not handle billing except to give the billing address to the provider of services. The rate fee should be negotiated between the state agency and the provider. The Access Center does not dictate fees nor administer billing unless an Access Center staff interpreter is utilized.
